Here are my favorite MLB K props for Friday, June 16. Let's cash some tickets!
I refuse to stop fading starting pitchers going up against the Washington Nationals. The Nats are averaging just 5.6 Ks over their five games, and they have the lowest strikeout percentage in MLB over the last 15 days. This number might seem low for the reigning NL Cy Young winner, but Sandy Alcantara's 7.7 SO/9 mark is the second-worst of his seven-year career. He's cleared 4.5 Ks just once in his last four starts.
Taijuan Walker has been a boom-or-bust starter for the Philadelphia Phillies this season, but it's been much more boom of late. The right-hander hasn't given up an earned run in two straight starts, and he's recorded 13 strikeouts along the way. Walker should be able to keep it rolling against an Oakland A's lineup that has the most Ks in baseball over the last week.
Martin Perez isn't what you'd call a strikeout artist. The Texas Rangers starter averages just 6.4 Ks per nine innings this season, and he's gone over this number in only two of his last eight starts. Now he faces a Toronto Blue Jays lineup that ranks fifth in MLB in fewest strikeouts per game over the last seven days. Take the under here.
